Technical FAQ

What is the difference between Zero-Bias and Biased detectors?
Zero-bias Schottky detectors require no external power, making them ideal for simple RF infrastructure components. Biased detectors offer significantly higher sensitivity (TSS), which is essential for detecting weak signals in military RF components.
Most diode detectors are designed for low-level sensing. For monitoring high power RF amplifiers, we recommend using our detectors in conjunction with our directional couplers to sample a safe portion of the signal.
Temperature can shift the diode’s video resistance. Our high reliability RF parts include temperature-compensated circuitry to ensure stable voltage output from -55°C to +125°C in aerospace environments.
