GaAs MMIC Attenuator Models and Datasheets
Compare GaAs monolithic microwave integrated circuit attenuators for RF signal-level control and microwave module integration. The catalog below lists individual model numbers, nominal attenuation values, die dimensions and downloadable datasheets.
For example, HD34397 is a 0 dB through-line die specified from DC to 40 GHz in a 50-ohm system, with dimensions of 0.6 × 0.75 × 0.1 mm. Performance and assembly requirements are model-specific. Use the selected part’s datasheet to confirm attenuation, return loss, input-power limits and mounting details before ordering.

Selection, mounting and application requirements
Model and Application Review
Share the attenuation value, operating band, expected RF input power, quantity and available mounting space. Include any packaging, screening or documentation requirements so the suitability of a catalog model or custom assembly can be reviewed.
Operating Temperature and Power
Review the selected model’s operating-temperature range and maximum input-power rating. Evaluate your assembly’s thermal conditions and required margin; do not assume that a catalog part is qualified for cryogenic or aerospace use without supporting documentation.
Die Mounting and Integration
Check die dimensions, pad locations and bond-wire requirements before layout. The HD34397 datasheet calls for a low-impedance ground connection, short wire bonds and static-protected handling. Follow the assembly instructions for the exact model you select.
Choosing the Right GaAs MMIC Attenuator
Choose the required nominal attenuation and confirm its tolerance over your operating band. Check whether the part is a fixed attenuator or through-line die; programmable step size and switching time apply only when the selected datasheet explicitly specifies a controlled attenuator.
- Frequency and matching: verify the specified band and return loss or VSWR at the frequencies you use.
- Power and temperature: check maximum ratings separately from guaranteed operating performance.
- Assembly: compare die size, bonding-pad layout and grounding requirements with your substrate and package.
- Documentation: use the model datasheet for attenuation tolerance and installation instructions; an empty table cell does not mean a zero value.

Technical FAQ
Are these fixed or programmable attenuators?
Select by the individual model datasheet. This catalog lists discrete nominal attenuation values and through-line options. The HD34397 datasheet describes a 0 dB through-line die; it does not specify programmable states or a switching time. If you need electronically adjustable attenuation, include that requirement in your inquiry.
What does a 0 dB through-line model do?
A through-line die provides a nominal 0 dB path rather than an intentional attenuation pad. It still has frequency-dependent matching and practical transmission losses. For HD34397, review the DC–40 GHz electrical specifications, return-loss plots and assembly guidance in the linked datasheet.
What information should I include in a quote request?
Include the model number, quantity, operating frequency, required attenuation and expected input power. Add your temperature range, die-mounting or package constraints, and any test or documentation requirements. Ask for current availability and lead time for the specific configuration.
