High Power PIN Diode RF Switches

Compare high power PIN diode switches by frequency range, power handling, switching speed, insertion loss and isolation. Use the model table and linked documents to shortlist a high power RF switch, then confirm configuration, bias and control requirements, and operating conditions for your application. Include the model number and your requirements when requesting a quote.

Frequency & Configuration

Specify the operating band, number of RF ports and required switching paths. Include connector types, impedance, enclosure dimensions and mounting constraints so the proposed model can be checked against your system.

Power & Thermal Conditions

Provide the required power level and operating mode, along with temperature range, mounting and available cooling. Include any mismatch, vibration or environmental requirements that need to be verified for the selected model.

Bias & Control Interface

State your available supply and logic levels, required switching time and control sequence. Confirm whether the selected model includes a driver or requires external bias and control circuitry.

Choosing the Right High Power RF Switch

Compare PIN diode switch specifications under the conditions your system will use. Start with the table, then check the selected model’s document and confirm any missing details before specifying the part.

  • Frequency and signal path: Confirm the operating band, switching configuration and connector requirements. Check insertion loss and isolation at the relevant frequencies and switch states.
  • RF switch power handling: Confirm whether the rating applies to continuous-wave or pulsed operation, and whether RF may be present while switching. For pulsed use, provide peak and average power, pulse width, repetition rate and duty cycle.
  • Temperature and mounting: Specify ambient or case temperature, cooling, mounting and load mismatch conditions. Ask whether power derating applies to your operating conditions.
  • Bias, control and timing: Check supply requirements, driver provisions, logic levels and the conditions used to measure switching time. Identify any required sequencing between RF, bias and control signals.
  • Documented limits: Distinguish typical values from guaranteed limits. If a required specification or test condition is not stated, ask for confirmation rather than assuming a capability.

High-Power PIN Diode Switch FAQs

How should I compare RF switch power handling?

Compare ratings only after checking the specified operating conditions. Ask whether the rating covers continuous-wave or pulsed operation, what temperature and mismatch limits apply, and whether switching with RF present is permitted. The catalog table alone does not establish these conditions for every model.

Suitability must be checked for the selected model and system. Include transmit power, receive-path loss, required isolation, switching sequence and receiver protection requirements in your inquiry. Confirm these together rather than treating a power rating alone as approval for T/R service.

Confirm whether the selected model needs an external driver or includes control circuitry. Ask for supply voltage and current, logic levels, bias requirements, connector or pin assignments, switching-time test conditions and power-up/power-down sequencing.

What Our Customers Say
